Community Awareness Campaigns

We have developed a number of community awareness campaigns to assist us provide you with the best service possible.

Save Triple Zero for Saving Lives

In 2010 NSW Ambulance has launched a new confronting television campaign that sends a strong message to the community that ambulances are for emergencies.

If there is no medical emergency, people are encouraged to think about an alternative - such as seeking medical treatment through their local GP or community health centre. Calling ambulances to a trivial situation could cost a life.

Don't Use ambulance as a taxi

In response to paramedics becoming increasingly frustrated by people attempting to use ambulances as a taxi service for treatments of minor ailments, NSW Ambulance rolled out a community awareness campaign to better inform the community about the proper use of ambulances.

Don't Drive Yourself to Hospital

This rural campaign was developed in response to a number of cases recently where members of rural communities have driven critically ill children, relatives or even themselves in a critical condition, to hospital rather than waiting for an ambulance to arrive.

Zero Tolerance

Holiday time is one of the busiest seasons of the year for or our paramedics and due to the increased incidence of alcohol and drugs in the community, it can also be a potentially risky time.

Deputy Chief Executive Mike Willis said NSW Ambulance advocates a zero tolerance policy to violence against our staff, and there is no excuse for abuse against paramedics who are providing life saving treatment to the community

In Case of Emergency (ICE)

We have not launched any campaign supporting ICE (In Case of Emergency) however we do support any method of contacting family in a critical medical emergency.
