The main role of Ambulance paramedics is to respond to triple zero calls and provide life saving medical treatment. They are one of the health system's greatest assets and are vital for delivering effective out of hospital care.
The community relies on the professionalism, dedication and clinical skills of
our paramedics to provide the best medical care. Paramedics must
complete a rigorous program of training and education to gain their initial
qualification.
Paramedics must engage in an ongoing professional development program
to maintain their Certificate to Practice (CTP) after gaining initial
qualification. This ensures each paramedic's clinical and technical skills
are of the
highest standard, allowing them to provide out of hospital care
to the community. Medical treatment provided by paramedics is guided by
approved
protocols, pharmacology and clinical procedures guiding the provision
of treatment for various clinical conditions.
Ambulance has a fully accredited Ambulance Education Centre as well as regional training units that deliver in-service training, online learning courses and clinical support programs which include workshops and clinical assistance.
