Air Ambulance Kingair aircraftThe Ambulance Service of NSW has had in place a commercial contract for the provision of air ambulance services for over 40 years. The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) has provided the contract for the past 7 years.

Traditional RFDS services to remote farming and Aboriginal communities are not affected and are funded separately by Federal and State Government. These services do not form part of the tender.

Air ambulance services are fully funded by the State Government and are different to the services provided by RFDS. Ambulance staff (flight nurses and ambulance doctors) crew the aircraft.
