Emergency Helpers Award
On Thursday 24 September 2009, Ambulance received a State Emergency Management
Safer Communities award for the 'Emergency Helpers' preschool program.
The high commendation was received in conjunction with NSW Police
Force & NSW Fire Brigades.
The Minister for Emergency Services, Steve Whan presented
the award to Paramedic Clare Pemberton at Parliament House, Sydney.
Other attendees from Ambulance included Chief Executive
Greg Rochford, General Manager Operations Mike Willis and Director
Public Affairs Kathryn Wood.
The Emergency Helpers program was launched in February this year and it has attracted over one hundred participating pre-school and day care centres so far; and these are numbers just for Ambulance!
The program was the initiative of Ambulance and it is available on all three emergency service websites.

A number of innovative community education programs have been implemented to assist identify life threatening conditions, understand what to do in an emergency and the importance of adopting illness prevention strategies.
