A new emergency rescue helicopter service has brought larger and more powerful helicopters to patient rescue missions since it began on 14 May 2007. The new system service includes a larger treatment area greatly improving the ability for doctors and paramedics to treat patients en route, a better flying range allowing helicopters to travel greater distances and the ability to carry additional patients and extra medical equipment.
