Appreciation Day

This month NSW Ambulance celebrated Appreciation Day.

This important initiative – which was held on 21 November – acknowledges all NSW Ambulance staff, as well as community members who have gone above and beyond to support friends, loved ones or others in need during a medical emergency.

This year, dozens of community members were recognised at a special Appreciation Day event in Sydney for their role in carrying out extraordinary acts of courage. Many of them gave life-saving cardiac pulmonary resuscitation, applied automated external defibrillators or assisted patients in other ways before paramedics arrived on scene. Some of the recipients are also children, who showed a maturity and calmness beyond their age during what was likely the most distressing moment of their young lives.

In addition to recognising community members, Appreciation Day was also about acknowledging the selfless work of all NSW Ambulance staff, particularly in light of how they have responded to the challenges posed by COVID-19, floods and bushfires over the past few years.

All of our staff received an Appreciation Day Ribbon to acknowledge how well they have served patients, this organisation and the community.
