App Settings

To adjust the accuracy of location services, visit the Me screen in the GoodSAM Responder app. If you move the accuracy slider to the left, the app will use triangulation which consumes less than 1% of your battery. If the accuracy slider is toggled to the right, the app uses GPS, which is power-hungry and generally not required.

Phone settings

For the GoodSAM Responder app to function correctly, please enable background location access and push notifications.

The following is a step-by-step guide to making sure your settings are correct.

On an iPhone:

Step 1: Please go to Settings and tap on the "Responder"
Step 2: Make sure the "Background App Refresh" is on and tap on the "Location"
Step 3: Make the location access is set to "Always"
Step 4: Then go back to "Responder" and tap on "Notifications". Please make sure "Allow Notifications" is on. If you would like our app to override the phones silent mode then please also make sure the "Allow Critical Alerts" is on too.

On an Android:

Step 1: Please go to Settings and tap on the "Location"
Step 2: Make sure the "Location" is on and tap on the "App access to location"
Step 3: Make the Responder access level is "ALLOWED ALL THE TIME"
Step 4: Then go back to Settings and tap on "App permissions", scroll to the bottom and make sure "Remove permissions if app isn't used" is not on
Step 5: Go back to Settings and tap on "Apps & notifications"
Step 6: Please find the "Responder" app
Step 7: Tap on the "Notifications" section
Step 8: Please make sure the notifications switches are on
